Steam in New South Wales

Chasing steam around the state provided some unforgettable
experiences but it was almost as exciting getting the films back from
processing.

Although we no longer require the old projector, the quality of these films has stood the test of time and their historical significance has increased, greatly, over the years. Film Night gathers a selection of fascinating scenes shot between 1960 and the end of steam in 1972.

A wide range of locos is seen at work, including double-headed Garratts struggling up Fassifern Bank, fast 38s powering expresses, Winter scenes of 59s on the pickup Goods, locals on the Richmond line, the collision at Geurie of 3817 and 6003 and even triple-headed 30 Class tank engines at MacDonaldtown.

Great action, beginning to end, from the twilight years of steam.

Contents Include:
LAST RUN OF 1219 :	The veteran 4-4-0 assists 1243 up Cowan Bank
COLD DAY OUT WEST :	53 and 60 battle Raglan Bank, 36s, Garratts and 38s in the Orange-Molong area.
GEURIE ACCIDENT :	The tragic collision between 3817 and 6003 which saw both locos written off.
RICHMOND LINE :	Early footage of 30s, 32 and even 'oily' 5914.
TRIPLE HEADED TOURS :	3820 + 3822 + 3827 Gosford to Wyong and 3801 + 3813 + 3820 to Moss Vale.
MACDONALDTOWN SPECTACULAR :	3053, 3112 and 3134 banked by 3811, drag empty cars out of the arrival road at the carsheds.
THE SOUTHERN LINE :	Including - 30s on locals, 38s on Passengers, 50 Class on a reclamation train at Picton, 38 passing 36+59 on Exeter bank, 36 passing 38 near Yerrinbool.
NORTH-WESTERN TOUR :	Weekend outing, in 1962, with 5901 (newly converted to coal burning) and black 3801 on its supposed last run, 1243+3344, green 1709 +3081T on the Merriwa line, 5385, 3510 and numerous locos along the way.
*SHORT NORTH - FLYER* :**	Great selection of 38s at speed.
FASSIFERN :	Includes 30 Class, 38s, 50 Class, double-headed trains storming the famous bank and concludes with a spectacular segment of double Garratts in the final week of Newstan Colliery workings.
